Long Hard Ride, Marshall Tucker’s 1976 album, came on the heels of their first Top 40 radio hit. Striving to build upon this breakthrough, they delivered an album that mixed country, rock and blues into a distinctive whole. A good number of the tunes were radio-friendly tracks that reined in the band’s jamming tendencies, and yet the individual playing styles that made Marshall Tucker unique clearly shone through.
